Disposable cartridges are expensive and aren’t able to screen out super fine particles. DIY filter media like polyester fiber fill isn’t designed for aquatic use and may be pre-treated with chemicals. They can also loosen in water, causing fibers to separate and float around your tank.

Directions/Specifications

How To Use:

• The pad comes folded in half and can easily be cut down to fit inside any filter.
  
• Use it with Aquarium Co-Op's Coarse Sponge Filter Pad or any larger-pored filter media to remove both large and small particles from your water.
  
• After cutting down to size, insert the Water Clarifying Filter Pad behind/under coarse filter media, so that water passes through the coarse media first and the Water Polishing Clarifying Filter Pad second.
  
• The pad’s fine polyester fibers effectively trap micro debris as water passes through your two-stage mechanical filtration.
  
• Consider adding the Aquarium Co-Op pre filter sponge to your filter intake to increase surface area for bacterial growth and prevent fry and shrimp from getting sucked up into your filter.
  

When To Replace:

Due to the pad’s fine porosity, over time it may clog as it becomes saturated with debris. Water Clarifying Pads are not reusable and should be replaced during regular filter maintenance periods. Fortunately, one pad supplies multiple cut-outs so you don’t need to buy new pads as often.
