Aphyocharax paraguayensis, commonly known as the Panda Tetra, is a small, active fish native to the river basins of the Rio Paraguay in South America
Habitat
- Distribution: Found in southern Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay
- Environment: Prefers densely vegetated streams and small tributaries with soft, slightly acidic to neutral water

- Tank Size: A small group can be kept in an aquarium with base dimensions of 60 x 30 cm

- pH: 5.5 – 7.5.
- Hardness: 18 – 268 ppm.
- Décor: Provide areas of dense vegetation, twisted roots, and pieces of bogwood. Floating vegetation is also beneficial.
Diet
- Omnivorous: Accepts most dried, frozen, and live foods, with a preference for live food.
Behavior and Compatibility
- Active and Peaceful: Generally peaceful but may nip at long-finned or slow-moving tankmates
- Shoaling Fish: Best kept in groups of at least six

- Egg-scattering: Spawns in soft, acidic water with clumps of fine-leaved plants
